A full-site XML backup is a site-wide snapshot. Restoring from it rebuilds the entire Confluence site, including every space, page, and attachment. Because of that, you can’t pick and restore just one space from a full-site backup. If you need a single space back, you’d use a space-level export/import workflow (export the space and import it into the target instance) or restore the full site elsewhere and then recover that space separately. The idea of a backup being space-scoped doesn’t apply to a full-site backup, and the standard restore process isn’t designed to selectively restore a single space.
